EVENTS AND MEETINGS

Minutes of NHBUG Meeting – 08 January  2019.

This Meeting was held at  Letchworth Council Offices, Gernon Rd. Meeting started at 14:00, chaired by Marilyn Kirkland.


Approx. 10 members attended. Also attending were: Councillors Fiona Hill, Tony Hunter, Steve Jarvis, Ian Mantle,  Jean Green (Royston), Vera Swallow (Royston), and  Guy Brigden (HCC)
Apologies received from: Councillor Paul Marment, Edna Fox.

Edna Fox has stepped down from the role of Vice-Chair. We would like to thank her for her support. The post will be filled at the next AGM.

Matters Arising from last minutes.
All these matters arising to be updated to website shortly.
Spelling mistakes on place names will be corrected.
The 610 Saturday service only runs Luton – Potters Bar on Saturdays (not Cockfosters as stated). Cockfoster and Enfield service is Mon-Fri only.
Members’ attention has been drawn to the consultation wrt Trumpington Park and Ride. Cllr Harrison gave an update on the proposals including the possibility of adding a small multi-storey car park (1 under + 2 over) or a car park off the M11to joint the two sites up, with a new area for airport buses. No decision yet finalised.
Concern continues for Pirton residents about the impact of the big new development there.
Guy Brigden said the council were waiting on Herts Highways to update the road arrangements before bus service alterations could be finalised.
Scanning machines have appeared on the 53 bus. It will be interesting to note any changes in recorded usage, as there was a suggestion that in the past not all journeys have been recorded.
Marilyn has secured usage of the Council offices for our
next meeting, which will be in April. Date as below.

Bus services
Several issues were discussed including:
The bus stop in Penn Way, Letchworth has suffered two separate attacks of vandalism which means there is no shelter from wind. A smell of gas was reported at the stop and contractors are currently investigating.

Attention was drawn to the NHDC District Local Plan, which requires all large development schemes, requires consideration of public transport requirements. Two major schemes are coming before the Planning Committee next Wednesday (16
th Jan.).
The Health Shuttle service to Lister hospital has now, sadly, been discontinued.
There is a transport consultation taking place for Stevenage. Details on the web (Search: Stevenage  future planning transport consultation).
